During the day Sunday, the FA will once again be wedged between two cold fronts, the one pushing offshore and another sinking S across the Mid- Atlantic. The front will reach the FA around midnight Saturday night, slightly slower than previously forecast, and will be pushing off the coast through Sunday morning. WAA and some clearing between the two fronts will allow Ts to reach the low 80s once again. However, another cold front stretched NE to SW from the Great Lakes to the Wern Gulf Coast approaches the FA, again ramping up the chances for more precip Saturday night. Bit of a lull in precip activity as the low lifts out of the area towards New England dragging its associated cold front N and E. Serly winds 10-15kt on the E side of the cold front with winds becoming more Werly S of the Low/behind the front. Stronger showers and some isolated tstorms are expected to be ongoing E of the front with potential for light, with potential for some wrap around moisture fed showers lingering just W of the front/S of the Low. The low continues lifting to the NNE from coast at the NC/VA border with the associated cold front extending Sward over the NOBX. Clearer pattern after the second front Mon. Unsettled weather through the weekend with a dynamic system passing through into Sat AM and two cold fronts passing through Sunday and Monday. Mild conditions continue with lows ranging from the low 60s inland to around 70 on the OBX. By early tomorrow morning, the heaviest rain should shift offshore as the low continues is slow trek towards the VA Tidewater. Most high res guidance continues to show the potential for training heavy rain bands and embedded thunderstorms across the Outer Banks tonight, and a small flooding threat may emerge if several inches of rain are observed here. Weak low pressure will slowly move northward across the NC Inner Banks tonight, with widespread heavy rain continuing across the coast, while conditions begin to dry out over the coastal plain. With widespread cloudy conditions today, afternoon highs will be well below average, with readings mostly in the upper 60s to low 70s. Convection along the coast has the potential to lead to locally heavier amounts as well. In fact there will likely be a sharp rainfall gradient across the forecast area, with less than 0.25" expected across the far NW coastal plain counties, 1-2" along the US 17 corridor, and 2-4" along the coast and OBX. These ingredients coming together is a recipe for heavy rain, and there will be potential for low lying and poor drainage flooding along the coast where the heaviest rain will fall. This low will receive ample upper level support as it moves across Eastern NC with a shortwave overhead, and a very moist airmass will advect into the area as well with PWats surging to almost 2". An area of low pressure currently southeast of Cape Fear will lift northward today, and eventually track across the Crystal Coast and Inner Banks. Widespread rain continues across the area and will continue to fill in over the next few hours. No significant changes needed to previous forecast for morning update. Cooler high pressure then builds in early next week. High pressure then briefly builds in Saturday before a cold front crosses through the region late this weekend. Weak low pressure will slowly track northward across the Crystal Coast and Inner Banks today and tonight bringing unsettled weather to the area.
